  • Notes
    • There was an inquest into his death at which his daughter Hannah Slingsby gave evidence. She said that his wife had cancer and Joseph had been working as a weaver in Thackley but had mixed up the colours in the piece he was fettling (working on). He had been having eyesight trouble and was wearing glasses. He was found dead in the canal. The verdict was that he had drowned himself while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
