    Gender Female

    • She died at 4 Westfield Grove, Wrose, aged 76 years or Myocardial degeneration, certified by Dr H S Russell. She was the widow of John Lee Hardaker, commercial traveller (stone merchants, retired). The informant was her son J B (Jack) Hardaker who was in attendance when she died. His address was 12 Westfield Lane, Wrose. The death was registered in Shipley four days after she died.

4 Westfield Grove is a bungalow built for Jack's parents who had moved to Wrose from Eccleshill. Initially they came to live at 3 Westfield Grove, a two storey house opposite what must have been a vacant block where number 4 was built. 12 Westfield Lane, where Jack and Edith were living, shared a back fence with 4 Westfield Grove. After the death of both Jack's parents Jack and Edith, with their first child, moved into the bungalow and presumably sold both the vacated houses.

  • Notes
    • Rachel Stansfield Brown was registered as Anne Louisa 'by mistake' (BROWN Anne L., Idle Bradford, IDLE/25/67). In the chapel register I believe she was first entered under this name but it was afterwards changed to her baptismal names Rachel Stansfield. Curiously, a subsequent daughter was called Annie Louisa.
Rachel was Brian's paternal grandmother. She died at 4 Westfield Grove, Wrose. We have a copy of her will in the files.
