Hannah HARDAKER, b. Abt 1760, Rawdon, Yorkshire, England |
Marriage |
31 Aug 1785 |
Guiseley St Oswald, Yorkshire, England [2] |
Type: By Banns |
- Richard Roo and Hannah Hardaker both of this parish. Richard signed his name, Hannah made her mark. Witnesses were Robert Hardaker and Joseph Claughton (both signed).
We do not know who the witness Robert was, or what relationship he had to Hannah. His signature does not match any of the known Roberts who were alive and who married around this time period. We have matched his signature to the Robert Hardaker who witnessed the marriage of Benjamin Barritt and Sarah Tristram at Guiseley church in 1787. To date we have been unable to establish a definite connection between Benjamin or Sarah to any of our recorded Hardakers. For now the identity of Robert remains an unsolved puzzle.
Witness Joseph Claughton is most likely the son of Joseph Claughton #439 and Dorothy Smith #440. This couple were also the parents of Hannah Claughton #332 who married Roger Hardaker #93. Roger was the uncle of this Hannah.
