- The assignment of the marriage of John Hardaker and Anne Bradley to this John is not entirely certain. We know from John's marriage to Dinah in 1824 that he was a widower at that time and a farmer. The marriage to Anne is one of the few that fits the time frame. John was recorded as a husbandman (a farmer), and one of the witnesses was John Hardaker Senior (perhaps this John's father). John signed his name for both marriages, but a comparison of the signatures is inconclusive - there are some similarities, and also some differences. We have a likely burial for Ann in 1814. We think that John & Anne had a child named Abraham, born in December 1812 at Swinsty, and who died in 1828 at Guiseley. Our theory is that John married Ann and lived at Swinsty north of Otley for several years, presumably farming for a living, until Anne's death in 1814, at which time he returned to his home town of Guiseley with son Abraham.
Married:
- John Hardacre [sic], OTP, Husbandman, and Anne Bradley, OTP, Spinster. John signed (John Hardaker), Anne made her mark. Witnesses were John Hardaker Snr and Stephen Longfield.
