Notes - The story of this family is quite sad. Children Thomas (no. 3), William and Thomas (no. 5) all died very young. Mary, the mother, died in 1789 just 3 years after the birth of the last child Benjamin. Father Thomas died a few years later in 1792, and the eldest son John died later in the same year leaving Hannah aged about 20 and the two youngest children with apparently no-one to provide for them. Richard, the second youngest, died the following year (1793) in the Idle Workhouse aged 12. Benjamin seems to have been the only child to go on to raise his own family. We think Hannah never married and lived to the age of 75.

- Thomas Hardaker and Mary Rhodes both of Horsforth. Witnesses were Will'm Brieley (?) and Elizabeth Hardaker (most likely Thomas' mother - his sister Elizabeth married in 1766).
