Our link to the Pullein family comes through Mary Pullan, the wife of John Hardaker of Idle. Mary was born in Idle in 1786 and died there in 1854. She and John had ten children, among them Samuel Hardaker, father of John Lee Hardaker.

Notes - Widow. No trace of either of her marriages on the IGI. In her Will dated 8 Jan 1598 she leaves:
To Ellis Fishborne my daughter one black cow.
To Anthony Pullanne one black with-headed whye.
To Ellis Woodward one black why.
To Dorothy Rothery one gimmer.
To my daughter Dorothy Thirkett my best gown.
To Sibell Dunwell my daughter my best red petticoat.
To Agnes Rothery my daughter my brown coat etc.
To Thomas Rothery my sone one bedstead, etc.
To Maud Pullanne my daughter-in-law all the wool clip last year to make apparel for her children.
To Humphrey Rothery daughter one gimmer.
To my three daughters equally my linnen clothes.
To the poor of Herwood ten shillings to be divided at discretion of Matthew Rothery, Thomas Rothery, Humphrey Rothery and Henry Pullanne my sons.
Reside to my children equally.
I make Thomas Rothery and Henrie Pulline my sons sole executors.
To Elizabeth Hardistay one gimmer sheep.
To Thomas Rothery my son my growing corn and my best purse.
Witnesses: Lawrence Caudray and Ellis Woodward.
Probate was granted on 3 May 1598 to Henry Pullen, natural and lawful son of deceased, power being reserved for Thomas Rothery as co-executor.
