- We cannot be certain which John Hardaker married Mary and raised a family at Lees near Haworth. We have two John Hardakers baptised in 1763 at Haworth St Michael. This one and John #2307 (son of William and Sarah), and the person who married Mary could be either of these two. The chosen names of John and Mary's children do not provide any clues as to John's parents. All we have to go on is that John #2307 was probably born at (or near) Oxenhope, while this John was born at Haworth which makes him our slightly favoured option.
- Unable to find a likely marriage for this couple. We have Mary's name from the baptism records of the couple's children. The only remotely possible candidate records are John and Mary Crabtree married at Bingley in Feb 1790 (a bit too late - their first child was born in 1789), and John and Mary Tennant married at Batley in 1780 (a bit early, John would have been only 18, and also a bit far away).
