Notes |
- We are not entirely confident that we have the right William Hardaker marrying Ann Flower. We know of two others born around the right time (one at Otley and one at Skipton) who are possible candidates. Somewhat in favour of this William is that he was recorded as being "of Leeds" on the marriage record, and he returned to live at Bramley (close to where we think this William was born) after his marriage. He named his first son William, although whether that was after his father or after himself we cannot know.
- It is clear that this family were Quakers, although in the various birth and burial records they are noted as "not in the membership". This means that they attended the Quaker meetings, but had not applied to become "friends" (or members). Our research suggests that the wife Ann née Flower was born into the Quaker faith, which probably explains their affiliation with the Quaker religion.
The family vanish from the UK records entirely after 1841.
