- There is some doubt about whether this is the correct Sarah. If her birth was close to her baptism date, she was only 16 when married. Possible, but very unusual. It is quite possible that Sarah was born a year or two before the baptism, making her 17 or 18 when married. The available records indicate that there were two other Sarah Hardakers quite probably alive at the time of the marriage, these being Sarah née Fether who married William Hardaker (#2295) in May 1760, and Sarah née Redman (this Sarah's mother) who married John Hardaker (#2297) in Oct 1762. In either case, it is possible that the first husband died prior to 1782 and they remarried, probably aged in their early 40's. We been unable to find records that conclusively support any of these options, and the marriage record for Robert and Sarah does not record whether Sarah was a spinster or a widow, so have opted for the most likely of the three, that being this Sarah.
If we have this wrong, and it was a different Sarah Hardaker who married Robert Hey, then she may be the Sarah Hardaker of Cowling who married Joseph Aldersley at Kildwick church in 1789.
